Artist Statement

For me, art is meditation. My process of art making was born out of a desire to transform grief and trauma and utilize art as a healing modality. My work embodies the full spectrum of emotions as it relates to the stages of motherhood and what that means for one’s identity. I am a self-taught artist and first began my journey into art through charcoal drawing which eventually led to an exploration of more fluid styles, incorporating alcohol ink, acrylic, and oil pastel.
Through the interplay of bold and pastel colors and playful marks, I attempt to capture what it means to nurture; for others and for oneself. I often depict elements of nature that provide escape, freedom, and nourishment for the soul, such as winged elements and abstract landscapes that pull the viewer in.
